Back around 1990, I used Eastwood's exhaust manifold coating on the HP manifolds on the 69 Roadrunner I had at the time. The only prep I did was to wash them with a degreaser and wire brushed them. Held up very well for several years.Do the primer first and be sure to use gloves. He used three coats of primer on each. The next day, coat the pipes. He used four coats. After they are coated, they must be cured. Curing the pipes is a three step process. The first step includes 10 minutes at idle, followed by a 10-minute cool down. Then, 20 minutes at idle, 20-minute cool down.

Here are a couple of pictures of a manifold and exhaust I ground them smooth before taking it to the coater. I have spilled oil on them and it wipes off with no stains and also very durable, much thinner than powder coating. I think coating a exhaust manifold on a vnt15 or vnt17 will cause spike issues. I wouldn't coat a manifold unless I got a gt22 or gt25. vnt15 and vnt17 virtually have no lag.
