Im surprised the 327 made 408 HP with 9:1 compression and factory iron heads. Same engine with the new Aluminum heads should offer another 30 HP if all else is equal. I think the AFR's 180 or 195 runners would offer another 20-25 above that. Get the compression back up to 10:1 and you would add another 10-15 HP and still run well on pump gas.Same dyno, same day, Dart 200 CC heads were worth 11 horse power over my then 47 year old heads. I am not a fan of Camel back heads (the intake 1966 roles in and a 275 hp version comes to be and I can't determine if the 'camel back' heads were part of the hp upgrade. It makes sense to me that the larger valves in those heads would be needed but I would like to verify. They did have a reason for the small stroke, scca rules and a 305 cid limit.They used the 4 inch bore because it allowed better breathing than the 283 bore thus the 3 inch stroke 283 crank was used to squeak in under the cid limit.
