You lose 2.5% dmg and 5% accuracy on top of -9 ranged attack bonus. I ran faveguard/bofa until my first purple. Now I got the helm :D. It’s pretty normal to run it without the helm at TOA. I recommend using the helmet just because of the boost in performance that the full set of crystal provides and how much it speeds up croc and wardens. I am in the process of going dry in CG (733kc at the moment) and have 4,816 crystal shards. Out of those, I need to make and corrupt a bowfa. I also have 7 extra armor seeds and 18 reg weapon seeds. To cope with the grind, I kinda wanna make a second set of crystal armor (my current set has around 9k charges in each piece).Anyways my setup is as follows: Justi helm Crystal body + legs and ahrims top Guardian boots Ring of suffering Bowfa + BP + kodai and crystal shield Barrow gloves Rada's blessing 4 Occult + anguish. If you use bofa to it's fullest for pvm you will blow through armor charges. You don't really need them after a while, I have 5 banked with 4000 c shards, corrupted bowfa and saeldor with max charged c armor.Bofa is better. Zcb and buckler with dragon rubies. Seems like for speedruns tbow is better but for consistency bowfa out shines. You can get pretty insane times with tbow (I have a 1:30 pb with tbow) but with bowfa you're getting more consistent 1:50-2:00 times compared to tbow which can sometimes take up to 2:30-3 minutes.

Bowfa is of course the long term goal there though. The other advantage to both of these options is they are a cash option for ammo that is decent for it's cost, vs buying rune arrows or amethyst and things of that nature.The only other realistic alternative while going dry for bowfa is crystal bow+crystal armour. I have no idea how it compares to rcb but id imagine it is better marginally. Would have to dps calc it. Rcb is serviceable though, I was running 250-350's with it and even got masori backpack with it and similar gear.
